"To Make Money, Drug-Induced Sex: What Is This Country Coming To?"
Recently, a startling revelation came from a female BJ (broadcast jockey) regarding the ongoing drug scandal involving a former gang member turned YouTuber.
This news caught everyone's attention as the female BJ, Gamdongran, posted her thoughts about the matter online.
A Stagnant Response to Drug Crimes
On the 23rd, Gamdongran expressed her frustration in her YouTube community, stating, “Another drug scandal has erupted on Africa TV, but it seems that only the distributors and sellers will end up in prison,
while those who only consume drugs will likely get out with just a fine or a suspended sentence.”
She continued, “This country’s punishment against drug offenders is far too lenient. The programs aimed at helping these individuals quit drugs are also alarmingly inadequate.”
Contradictory Efforts to Clean Up Africa TV
Gamdongran further criticized the efforts of Africa TV, saying, “They want to change their image so desperately that they are even willing to change their name,
yet they treat gambling lightly while being incredibly lenient towards serious crimes like prostitution and drug-related offenses. It’s such a contradiction!”
She highlighted that offenders often manage to return to the platform without any repercussions, continuing to earn millions each month.
The Excel Broadcast Format: A Vicious Cycle
Gamdongran identified the “Excel Broadcast” format, popular on Africa TV, as part of the problem.
This format typically features male BJs leading shows where multiple female BJs compete for “star balloons” by dancing.
She noted, “As this Excel competition intensified, individual broadcasts became increasingly difficult, forcing BJs to band together and feed off each other to survive.”
To earn money in this environment, Gamdongran explained, “You have to resort to drugs and sex. Currently, if you want to earn a lot on this platform,
Excel is your only answer. To receive many star balloons, you have to pay a hefty price in return.”
She lamented, “This place resembles a kingdom of animals filled with cyber pimps and predators. It’s nearly impossible to survive as a herbivore in this jungle of predators.”
Drastic Measures by Authorities
Previously, the Gangnam Police in Seoul arrested a BJ named Kim (33) on charges of violating drug laws.
He is accused of using and selling drugs, including ketamine, from October 2022 until August last year, with sales worth several million won.
As of now, he has amassed 260,000 subscribers on YouTube.
